A hearty French-Canadian classic of crispy shoestring fries or tater tots. I am glad I went on a weekday afternoon, when it wasn't crowded as I have been told is the standard on weekend. This towering feast comes with fried chicken breast and crispy bacon served on a stack of Belgian waffles. It wasn't a challenge, just not comfortable in a wheelchair, but that is just a minor oddness in the entryway. It is well laid out, and easy to navigate for wheelchair access, except for an unexpected slope design leading up to the door. The restaurant is tucked in a strip mall, next to Tuesday Morning, with a lot of parking available. Rounded out with their fresh, hot coffee, it was a great meal. The latkes (basically hash brown pancakes, for the uninitiated) were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with sour cream. Served on crispy toasted English muffins, with perfectly poached eggs, and a sinful amount of decadent hollandaise sauce. The cheapest item on the menu is Garden Salad, which costs 0.00. The salmon was delicious, tender and melted in my mouth like butter. On the Maple Leaf Diner menu, the most expensive item is Whole Pie, which costs 28.99. I managed to resist the highly recommended chicken and waffles - it sounded like far more than I could handle! Someone near me ordered it and WOW, it was impressive and both looked and smelled delicious! Next time, I won't eat for a day before going! I decided to indulge instead with their Salmon Benedict, which is served with two latkes and a bowl of fruit. ![]() ![]() The pastry counter shows off their signature cookies and pies and ice creams in tempting arrangements, that you can't miss as you come in. I certainly have been missing out! The restaurant is casual, and very cheerful and bright. It is our aim to elevate classic steakhouse dishes to something truly original. I finally made my way to the Maple Leaf Diner, after having heard about it for several years. We feature Canadian cuisine including Alberta beef, game, fresh fish and seafood. ![]()
